How to Operate a Matko Remote Display Stoplight
If you have a Matko remote display with a stoplight attached, operating it can enhance safety, efficiency, and compliance. In this post, we’ll cover the steps to operate the stoplight on your Matko remote display.
Why Use a Stoplight on Your Matko Remote Display?
A stoplight on your Matko remote display can serve several purposes, such as:
- Improving safety by indicating to drivers when it’s safe to move forward and when it’s not safe to go
- Enhancing efficiency on the site by indicating when trucks should stop or proceed, reducing wait times and improving productivity
- Meeting compliance requirements if you’re operating a truck scale or a highway truck
Stoplight Notes
Note: The stoplight will not work on its own and requires weight data on the display to operate. If you need to operate the stoplight without any weight data, Matko offers a standalone SG product designed for this purpose.
There are several options for controlling a stoplight, but in this post, we’ll focus on the two most common configurations:
1. Operating the Stoplight with a Closed Contact Switch
To operate the stoplight with a closed contact switch, follow these steps:
- Connect the two wires to the two available terminals on the switch, using two different colors, with black representing the ground.
- Verify that you have a data stream coming into your display, as the stoplight will not activate without data coming in.
- Connect the black ground wire to the ground on your terminal strip, which is the same slot that the RS 2 32 ground is going to.
- Connect the white wire coming off of your stoplight control switch to slot number 13, which is labeled green.
- Set the options in the remote display to use a closed contact switch to control the stoplight. Press the reset button on the display and hold the left button until the display says “option.” Then navigate to option 21, set the value to 1, and press the learn button to save the value.
2. Operating the Stoplight Through the Data Stream
To operate the stoplight through the data stream, follow these steps:
- Verify that you have a data stream coming into your display.
- Connect the black wire coming off of your stoplight control switch to the ground on your terminal strip, which is the same slot that the RS 2 32 ground is going to.
- Connect the white wire coming off of your stoplight control switch to slot number 13, which is labeled green.
- Set the options in the remote display to operate the stoplight through the data stream. Press the reset button on the display and hold the left button until the display says “option.” Then navigate to option 21, set the value to 2, and press the learn button to save the value.
Conclusion
Using a stoplight on your Matko remote display can improve safety, efficiency, and compliance. Whether you choose to operate the stoplight with a closed contact switch or through the data stream, it’s important to verify that you have a data stream coming into your display and to set the options in the remote display to use the correct configuration. With these steps, you can operate your Matko remote display stoplight with ease.
